Food Saver Seal: Seal In Convenience

Buying grocery items in bulk is a good way to save money and alleviate the headache of having to go to the supermarket more often than you need to be. If you are shying away from this concept because you don’t feel your family can consume a large quantity of a certain product before the expiration date, consider a food saver seal. These handy little gadgets, starting at about forty dollars in price, can help you properly store food bought in bulk, as well as seal in convenience.

Food saver seals are devices with a vacuum built into them. They come in various sizes and capabilities, depending on your specific needs. Food seals are great for frozen grocery items. The handy vacuum ensures all of the air is out of the storage bag, deterring any dreaded freezer burn. This operation also increases the shelf life of grocery items. The average consumer sees a three to five time improvement over regular manufacturer packaging.

Upon purchase of your food saver seal, make sure that the proper batteries are included in the packaging. If not, the requirements are posted on the box. Before use, it is recommended that the device be charged for a full twelve hours.

The food saver seal is very simple to operate. Simply put the desired product into the specially designed bag, press down on the food seal and you’re done! Each operation lasts only about one minute at the most. Some of the less expensive food sealers aren’t designed for a large number of operations at one time. A recommended cool down time for the device is about twenty minutes. This should be done after about every three or four seals.

Purchasing the proper bags for your unit is quite simple also. Most units come with a certain amount upon purchase. They usually come as individual bags, or on a roll. Try surfing the internet for the bags when you need to replace them. There are a lot of good buys out there. Many independent businesses and even large retail chains offer the bags at greatly reduced prices over purchasing them from the manufacturer. Before you order, make sure to have the product number of the bags. This is located in the owner’s manual of the food saver seal.

Cooking in the food saver seal is a great time manager, too. Many of the food seal bags can be boiled for long periods of time, under low stove top settings. This cooking method also helps preserve the natural nutrients in the food. Usually, boiling food at high temperatures, particularly vegetables, dramatically reduces the vitamin content which they naturally contain.

Always remember to have all of the proper materials needed upon purchase of a food saver seal. After this, you can begin sealing in the convenience.
